Come be a part of our family! At Harrisburg High School, students who have taken a course in family and consumer science can become members of an organization that promotes the family. Come join the Harrisburg Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America!

FCCLA is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in family and consumer sciences education. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences education. Chapter projects focus on a variety of youth concerns including teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, teen violence, and career exploration. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life – planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision-making, character development, interpersonal communication, and career preparation – necessary in the home and workplace.

At Harrisburg High School, FCCLA members have completed the following activities that focus on the family and community – hosting the annual Children’s Halloween Party, collecting items for the local food pantry, serving at the Banquet in Sioux Falls, working at the Union Gospel Mission, creating activities that address the issues of drinking and driving, hosting a mock car crash, hosting a Life Day at the high school, renovating a room at the Ronald McDonald House, raising money for CNN, hosting a career fair, no texting campaign, addressing bullying issues, and a Princess Party. If you are interested, contact the high school and ask for an FCCLA officer or advisor.
