Harrisburg FCCLA Members Attend the Region VI FCCLA Meeting

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter members recently participated in the 2020 Region VI FCCLA Meeting, held at Southeast Tech on Friday, January 24th, 2020.  The theme of the meeting was "Your Story, Our Story: Where your leadership begins…”  

 This meeting gave members a chance to participate in Professional Presentation, Job Interview and Career Investigation STAR Events before advancing to the state competition, which will be held on April 26 – April 28.  State FCCLA Leadership Team members, the Region VI Co-Chair, Jr. High Representative, South Dakota National Guard presented various workshops.  Members also had the opportunity to compete in Region VI Knowledge bowl and complete service projects including tied dog toys, thank you cards for active duty military, and assemble hygiene bags for Church on the Street in Sioux Falls.

  • Professional Presentations - Gold Rating: Kourtney Gronseth, Katie Szczensy, Mattison Stange, Alyssa Page, Alexandria Esquibel, and Anna Retterath
  • Professional Presentations - Silver Rating: Allyson McMillan, Hannah Schroeder, Isabella Thurston, Lilian Derry, Kimberley Burley, Dylan Rehnke, and Shelby Hoogendoorn
  • Knowledge Skills Quiz Bowl ( Runner-up): Izzy Roth, Kiana Sauer, Ella Bergsmith, Zoey Maher, Trinity Peterson, Allyson McMillan, and Elijah Wilkerson
  • Officer Candidate - Grace Starr
  • Voting Delegate - Ainsley Plack
  • Outgoing Region VI Treasurer - Zoey Maher
  • Current Teams State Member - Kiana Sauer
  • Signing of the National Anthem - Macie Coleman
  • Door/Timekeeper - Alexis Burley, Crystal Wiersma and Macie Coleman

Students receiving superiors on their STAR Events will advance to the State Leadership Meeting, which will be held April 26 – April 28 in Sioux Falls.  These members, as well as others who choose to participate in other STAR Events will compete during the three-day meeting for a chance to attend the National Leadership Meeting, which will be held in Washington D.C. this summer.
