The Harrisburg School District is proud to welcome Terra Vennard as the new chair of the school board—a leader whose passion for education, community, and thoughtful growth makes her a natural fit for the role.
Terra brings both professional insight and personal investment to her work. As Director of Marketing at Medcor and a mother of two young boys—one currently attending Horizon Elementary and one future Tiger— her family’s commitment to Harrisburg runs deep. She and her husband, Hazen, are proud to be raising their children in the district and are actively engaged in the community’s future.
“We chose this area because it felt like the right place to raise our family,” Terra shares. “It’s a growing community with small-town values, great schools, and neighbors who genuinely care about each other.”
That sense of connection has only deepened over time. Now in her seventh year on the board, Terra sees her service not just as civic duty, but as a way to help shape the kind of environment she wants her children—and all children in the district—to grow up in. 🐾
“I serve because I want to help foster the kind of schools and community I’d be proud for my own children to grow up in,” she says. “It matters to me that every student has the support and opportunities they need to succeed, just like I hope for my boys.”
What drives Terra most is seeing the tangible impact of the board’s work. Whether it’s championing new programs, improving facilities, or ensuring that teachers feel valued, she finds fulfillment in progress.
“Being part of decisions that make our schools stronger and our community proud is truly rewarding,” she says.
Terra also recognizes the challenges and opportunities that come with growth. “Don’t let growth scare you,” she advises. “Growth brings opportunity. There’s a reason families are choosing our district, and with thoughtful planning and working together, we can continue to support and build a great school community.”
As board chair, Terra Vennard leads with empathy, vision, and a belief in collaboration. Her story is one of purpose and possibility—rooted in Harrisburg’s present and invested in its future.
