Dear Friends of the Harrisburg School District,
As we begin a new school year, I am filled with gratitude, pride, and excitement for what lies ahead. Entering my second year as Harrisburg School District superintendent, I remain grounded in the commitment I made upon arriving: to Listen, to Learn, and to Engage. Over the past year, your voices have shaped our direction, and one message has stood out above all others: we are Harrisburg.
While our district spans multiple cities and two zip codes, I have learned that the Harrisburg School District is one community. That sense of belonging is what makes this district special and what allows us to serve our students and families with purpose. Our core values, Community, Integrity, and Innovation, reflect who we are and guide how we support each learner, each day.
These values come to life through our Strategic Pillars. Whether we are focusing on Student Growth and Achievement, strengthening Engagement and Relationships, investing in Talent Development and Organizational Excellence, or ensuring Fiscal Stewardship and Sustainability, our work is centered on preparing students for their next best step. This work is both a professional responsibility and, for me, a deeply personal one.
This year, my family will experience a milestone as I send my first child to college. Like many of you, I understand the pride, excitement, and uncertainty that come with watching your child take their next step. While I am a parent to three children at home, I am also honored to serve over 6,400 students across our district, each with unique strengths, needs, and dreams. Every decision we make carries the weight of helping those students find success in their own journeys.
Public schools are the heart of a thriving community. They bring people together, create opportunities, and serve as a foundation for future generations. I see this every day through our partnerships with families, business leaders, community members, and our dedicated Harrisburg School Board. The passion for HSD is powerful, and the shared expectation for excellence set by our community and embraced across the District drives us to continually improve.
As we begin this school year, I am confident in the path ahead. Together, guided by our values and focused through our strategic priorities, we will continue to build a district that not only meets the needs of today but also prepares every student for tomorrow.
