Dear Patrons of the Harrisburg School District,
Over the past year, we have intentionally listened to staff, families, students, and community members as we work to develop a strategic plan that reflects both our growth and our shared priorities, while honoring our past. One message was clear: as Harrisburg grows, we must remain grounded in who we are and what we stand for. Growth brings opportunity, but it also requires clarity and purpose.
Through this process, a Core Values Team, composed of staff members and board members identified through district feedback, worked thoughtfully to capture the heart of HSD. Drawing from voices across the district, the team helped define the values that guide our culture and decision-making. I am proud to share our Core Values:
As a student-centered district, we value Community, Integrity, and Innovation in the pursuit of excellence.
These values reflect our people and serve as an anchor for how we work together and support every learner, today and into the future.
Alongside our Core Values, we are developing Strategic Pillars that will guide long-term planning and ensure the district continues to thrive. These pillars help turn priorities into action and focus our efforts where they matter most, as identified in our Fall stakeholder feedback:
Student Growth and Achievement – ensuring each student is supported, challenged, and prepared for life beyond graduation
Engagement, Relationships, and Community – strengthening partnerships and meaningful connections
Talent Development and Organizational Excellence – investing in our people and systems
Fiscal Stewardship and Sustainability – responsibly managing resources to support both current needs and future growth
Together, our Core Values and Strategic Pillars provide a clear framework for continuous improvement and thoughtful decision-making.
Harrisburg School District is a special place because of its people. Thank you for continuing this journey with us and for supporting the important work we do on behalf of our students and community.
Proud to be HSD,
