Dear Patrons of the Harrisburg School District,
The Harrisburg School District has been shaped by growth, and our next five, ten, and fifteen years will be no exception. As our community continues to thrive, we have a unique opportunity to lead that growth with purpose, write our story, and ensure that the decisions we make today serve future generations of students.
In my first three months as superintendent, I have learned from incredible people about impactful programs both within our schools and across the communities we serve. What I have discovered is a district that is deeply proud of its roots, committed to excellence, and ready to write its next chapter together.
A strategic plan allows us to do just that. It is more than a document as it serves as our shared vision, created by and for our community, that guides how we grow, serve, and invest in our students. By embracing our history while also leaning into the opportunities ahead, we can ensure that Harrisburg School District remains a place where students thrive and the identities of the communities we serve come together to celebrate being HSD Proud.
The development of our strategic plan will move through three phases:
Listening (September–December): Gathering feedback from internal and external stakeholders (like each of you).
Consensus-Building (January–May): Identifying themes and shaping our collective vision.
Execution (June and beyond): Bringing the plan to life as a living, actionable guide for our district.
The school board and I invite you to take part in this important process. Whether through face-to-face opportunities or by visiting our Strategic Plan Overview website, your voice matters. On the site, you will find a short five-question survey designed to take anywhere from 3 to 15 minutes, depending on how much feedback you would like to share.
Together, we are committed to listening, learning, and engaging. When we lean into each other and clearly define our vision, collectively we shape the future of the Harrisburg School District as we serve our children.
This is our story to write, our vision to live out, and our responsibility to carry forward. Together, we will continue building a district we are proud to call home.
