Free or Reduced Meal Benefits:
You can apply for free or reduced meal benefits through our Campus Parent Portal app by completing the Meal Benefits Application. This form can now be completed on your phone or tablet. If you need assistance with your password or access to the Campus Parent Portal, please contact Jean Hudson at 605-743-2567 ext. 3010 or at jean.hudson@k12.sd.us.
Meal Accounts and Pin Numbers:
Upon enrollment, all students are issued a meal account with a 4 or 5-digit pin number, which they will receive on the first day of school. Students should memorize this PIN as it is needed to purchase breakfast, lunch, or items from the student stores. High School and Middle School students will also receive an ID badge with a barcode for meal purchases.
Depositing Money into Meal Accounts:
Parents/Guardians can deposit money into student accounts in several ways:
Cash or Checks:
Send cash or checks to school with your student, to be turned in at the office or directly to the Child Nutrition Department. If you have multiple students at different buildings, you can send one check for all of them. Please write the students' names and the amount to be deposited in the memo section of the check.
Online Deposits: Use a credit/debit card or electronic check via My School Bucks . If you already have a My School Bucks account from a previous school, you will need to contact that school for a refund, as the funds cannot be transferred. You will also need to contact My School Bucks directly to switch your account to the Harrisburg School District.
Additional Items:
We offer a la carte items for students to purchase. There must be enough money in the meal account to cover these items. Students can buy milk to go with their lunch from home for $0.50. Only 4th and 5th graders can purchase extra entrees at Elementary buildings. At Middle and High School buildings, all students can purchase extra milk or entrees. Our Middle and High School student stores also offer beverages and snacks compliant with USDA Smart Snacks guidelines.
Menus:
We are utilizing a new menu program from Health-e Pro for the upcoming school. This system will provide parents and students with additional information on our menu items such as nutritional information, ingredients, and allergy information. The new website can be found here Health-e Pro or on the Harrisburg School District website in the Child Nutrition Section.
Peanut Policy:
Our Elementary and Middle School buildings are Peanut Restricted, and students are not allowed to bring food containing peanuts. The HSD Peanut Policy is available on the District’s website.
Food Allergies or Intolerances:
If your student has a food allergy or intolerance, please have your physician complete the Meal Change form, available on the District website, and return it to us as soon as possible. If you submitted a form in previous years and the allergy or intolerance has not changed, you do not need to submit a new form.
If you have any additional questions, please contact me at 605-743-9031 or chris.beach@k12.sd.us.
