We wrapped up the assigned readings of our One Book One School selection - The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This Wednesday, March 16th, we plan to celebrate by watching the movie and taking a school-wide picture dressed in the colors of a rainbow. Please check out the flyer for the assigned color of each grade. Set out those clothes now so you don't forget!

Tomorrow Freedom Elementary will kick off our One Book One School book - The Wonderful Wizard of Oz! The entire school will be reading the book the next three weeks. **To celebrate the kickoff of our new book, we invite everyone to dress in wacky hair and clothes tomorrow (Wed. 2/23) for TWISTER DAY!** FAQ: What will the school be sending home? -The oldest child in the family will be receiving the book for your family to keep, a reading schedule, and a parent letter from Dr. Pederson. What will my child do at school each day? -Each day in school we will follow the reading schedule to complete the assigned pages. Depending on the age, learners will read it independently, the teacher will read it aloud, or they will listen to the podcast (https://anchor.fm/obosfreedom). We will also have fun lessons, trivia, and other activities related to the book. What should we do as a family at home? - The book will be read in its entirety at school, but we also feel it’s important to re-read chapters at home (if time permits) as a family each night. You can discuss the events of the book, characters, and themes as a family. Where should we keep the book? -4th and 5th graders should keep the book in their backpack so they can use it both at school and home. Younger learners can just keep the book at home for you to read as a family.
