Reading Across America Week...
Beginning today, ALL 6th grade students started participating in a reading challenge in honor of Read Across America week! We will have daily dress up days and several classrooms may participate in reading challenges and activities throughout the following week.
Students will all be given a form to record the number of minutes they read. Each day students will bring these sheets to their ELA teacher. In order for students to receive credit for these minutes, they MUST have an adult's signature stating they truthfully read the stated amount of minutes. For every 20 minutes a student reads, they will be given a ticket which can be entered into a drawing.
This is where we would greatly appreciate your help! Do you have any connections to possible prizes?!? Restaurant coupons, free meals, gift cards? Or would you be willing to make a donation either as a prize (games, gift cards, school supplies) or a monetary donation? We will be purchasing a variety of prizes to encourage students to read 50,000 total as an entire 6th grade.
If you are able to donate, please send the donation to your child's ELA teacher. We will compile the prizes and purchase more as needed.
We thank you in advance for helping to make this year's reading challenge a success for all students! Please help encourage reading every day!
Thanks,
6th grade ELA teachers
