At the school board meeting tonight, Horizon Elementary first-grade teachers shared how they build a positive school culture by clearly teaching expectations and consistently recognizing students for practicing safety, accepting responsibility, working hard, and showing respect. Students are encouraged daily through Minga, recognized weekly with Fri-yays, and celebrated monthly with Tiger on Track, with first-graders surprising board members with PAWSitive notes. Adventure Elementary highlighted a mentoring partnership where fourth- and fifth-grade students support younger learners through academics, behavior modeling, and relationship-building. The Big Buddy program builds skills, confidence, and connections across the school community. We are #TigerProud! 🐾

A reminder that there will be no school beginning December 22nd, and school will resume on January 5th. We hope you have a wonderful and refreshing break, Tigers! 🐾☃️
The following message was sent to HSD staff and parents at 1:05 PM.
The sheriff’s department has notified the district office that we are cleared to resume normal operations. Thank you for your patience and trust.
On Monday, December 15, at approximately noon, the district was notified of a situation in the city limits of Harrisburg. Our schools within city limits and the Freshman Academy went into a shelter-in-place. District faculty, staff, and parents were notified. Throughout the situation, we remained in communication with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and our school administrators. Student and staff safety is our top priority.
